Español (Spanish)
The world's second most-spoken native language
Spanish is a Romance language with roughly 500 million speakers worldwide, official in around 20 countries across Europe and the Americas. It's one of the most requested pairings for African-diaspora communities with ties to Latin America and Equatorial Guinea, Africa's only Spanish-speaking country.
Writing system
What counts as correct
Spanish uses accent marks (á, é, í, ó, ú) to indicate stress and to distinguish otherwise-identical words ("si", if, versus "sí", yes), the letter ñ, and inverted punctuation (¿ ¡) to open questions and exclamations.
Why it matters
Precision, not approximation
An accent mark in Spanish can be the entire difference between two real words with different meanings. Itumo checks for correct accents, ñ, and punctuation on every Spanish translation, not just the words themselves.
