Português (Portuguese)
Spoken across Brazil and five African nations
Portuguese is a Romance language with around 260 million speakers, and it's distinctly African as well as European and South American: it's the official language of Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe, alongside Portugal and, by far its largest speaker base, Brazil.

What counts as correct
Portuguese combines accent marks (á, é, ê, ç) with nasalization marks — the tilde over a and o (ã, õ) — that indicate a nasal vowel sound and often distinguish singular from plural or one word from another entirely.
Why it matters
Precision, not approximation
Nasalization marks in Portuguese carry real grammatical weight, not just pronunciation. Itumo checks that accents and nasal marks are correct and in place, whether Portuguese is where a translation starts or where it ends.
